Critics Argue Bush Health Plan Would "Do More Harm than Good"
John Berry from Bloomberg writes that Bush's health care plan would do more harm than good. The plan would give a $15,000 tax deduction to families and $7500 to individuals. However, it does little to encourage the uninsured to become insured because most uninsured are poor and wouldn't benefit from a tax break.Berry states, "The president and his advisers seem to think that if you have what they call a ``generous'' health-insurance plan through your employer, you routinely take advantage of every provision even if not needed."
However, Berry feels that few people actually use all the free services provided by their health insurance. In short, Berry states that Bush's plan would only encourage 3 million of 47 million Americans to purchase health insurance.
