Texas Governor Proposes Selling Lotto for Health Care
Texas Governor Rick Perry is proposing to sell the state's lotto.
"Perry believes the lottery could be sold for about $14 billion, and the interest on the money could then pay for schools, cancer research and health coverage for the uninsured."
"Under the Perry plan, individuals could qualify for up to $150 a month in state money towards health insurance"
However, some disagree that the plan will work and that it will not raise enough money to pay for healthcare. Also, it would give the lotto to a private company where the government would have less control.
