Bogus Health Insurance
A man in California was sentenced to 25 years in jail for selling over $13M in fake health insurance policies. He was also find $20.5M. Policies were sold to about 20,000 people and claims totaled about $20M.
So how do you protect yourself against people like this? An easy way is to check the company offering the insurance. A quick Google search can often show the validity of a company. Also, check the credentials of the insurance agent. Is the agent licensed? Actually employed by an insurance company? Ask for references and if a deal looks too good, it might be.
